 Carver Equipment Co

I am currently looking for a Kubota L3000 tractor and have gotten quotes from the local dealers and some not so local dealers. I have found that one dealer 'Carver Equipment' has very competitive prices and is very easy to work with over the phone. The down side is that they are in NC and I live in NJ. Am I insane to even consider buying a new tractor site unseen from a voice over the phone? Let's not forget about sending a cirtified check to a address that could be vacant lot!Has anyone delt with these folks? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Richard, I didn't buy my tractor from Carver; had it before I knew about Carver, but I have asked Steve Carver questions by e-mail and got prompt responses; very good, detailed ones, too. And I've called Carver and ordered both shop and parts manuals for my tractor, I've called and ordered filters for my tractor, etc. (just gave them credit card numbers and the items promptly arrived via UPS) So . . ., bottom line; I don't have any financial interest in the business from anywhere, and am not making any recommendations; you buy where you're comfortable, but personally I wouldn't hesitate to order a tractor from Carver. If you're like most of us, you're accustomed to buying locally, but I learned a long time ago that it's not uncommon to buy tractors and RVs by telephone and mail from a long ways off.

I have no personal expierence with Carver, but have recognized that they have been in business a long time and receive respectable comments on the forums I've visited.

If you can save $ ordering from Carver, feel free to asked them for references as I'm sure they'll not hesitate to provide you with whatever comfort level you require.

Seems as a First class operation to me!

By the way; My dealer is 150 miles away.

Yes, Carver's prices are good and I considered getting a Kubota from them until I found the shipping was $1400!

Richard,
I bought my L2500DT (little brother to the L3000) from Carver a little over 2 yrs ago. No problems with tractor or Carver. Thay are GREAT people before during and AFTER the sale (parts, service, and sales, even silly questions). I still stop in from time to time look at the shinny new ones when I'm in the neighborhood. (I only live about 75 miles away but pass several other "orange" tractor dealers on the way)

Thanks to all who responded. But what about service? I live in NJ and obviously Carver won't be able to do any of the warrenty work (I know, they never brake). Will local dealers be willing to work with me or will I have to pay through the nose? Has anyone crossed this bridge and like to share their thoughts? Thanks again, Rich.

Richard,
I purchased a B2710 from Carver this spring. I'm located in SE Wisconsin, even with shipping they were considerably cheaper than the quotes I got from my local dealers. They were also able to deliver the tractor quicker that the local dealers were willing to commit to. I now have over 70 hours on it and it has proven to be quite a workhorse, I am very happy with the tractor. Steve Carver and company are very easy to deal with and responsive to questions both before and after the sale.

David, I am in SE Wisconsin also. Can I ask what shipping costs were for you?
